LIMITED MEDICAL RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGIST (LMRT)
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Required:
· High school or equivalent
· Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology program that meets the requirements for Texas certification of a Limited Medical Radiologic Technologist (LMRT)
Preferred:
· Three years of directly related patient care experience as a Medical Assistant, LMRT or other relevant imaging technologist experience
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS
Required:
· Certification of a Limited Radiologic Technologist (LMRT) in Chest, Extremities, Skull and Spine or a Temporary Limited Certificate with the expectation of obtaining certification in Chest, Extremities, Skull and Spine within 6 months of hire
· BLS Certification (AHA)
JOB SUMMARY
To provide technical, supportive, age specific and developmentally appropriate patient care functions for assigned clinical area. In addition, have the LMRT skill set to perform diagnostic imaging procedures utilizing state of the art imaging equipment in a multi-faceted environment. While performing radiographic procedures within the scope of licensure, LMRT will be able to utilize the imaging equipment and utilize the appropriate exposure factors to ensure a high quality of imaging. All imaging will be performed with minimal supervision and strictly adhere to the established practice and safety standards of UTMB. When the LMRT is not assigned to perform in the LMRT role, the LMRT is expected to fulfill all expectations and responsibilities of a Medical Assistant.
WORK SCHEDULE
36 hours per week with full benefits and proportional accruals. Matrix schedule, rotating days, evenings, and weekends.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Radiologic Technologist I position works independently to complete a variety of routine, diagnostic radiology procedures to include common and special fluoroscopic exams of routine to moderate complexity. This position provides direct assistance to physicians with all diagnostic and fluoroscopic procedures. This Radiologic Technologist I position delivers exceptional patient care and adheres to diagnostic radiology exam standards and guidelines established by governing agencies to ensure optimal patient safety and customer service. This position is a member of the direct patient care team.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Follows imaging, safety standards and conducts all imaging procedures based on approved protocols. Properly utilizes radiation protective gear for patients and immobilization during diagnostic procedures.
- Modify technical factors to achieve desired imaging results and recognizes complications / limitation.
- Utilizes technical knowledge and skills to perform procedures accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with age specific criteria.
- Reports “near misses” and inputs errors promptly into JUVO to improve processes and identify trends. Contributes to identification of corrective actions and improvement activities and contributes to meeting departmental and hospital targets for quality and safety.
- Ensures all imaging equipment has had QC performed as required and is in safe working order prior to use. Reports any equipment issues to leadership and contacts CES if needed for service support.
- Enters charges at the time service is delivered and ensures correct charges are entered for the procedure performed. (EF)
- Verifies Patient chart for valid orders, date and time of scheduled procedure, priority, physician’s notes, and ordering comments. Enter/update patient information in Electronic Medical Record (EPIC Radiant) in accordance with established protocols and procedures. (EF)
- Ensures and maintains compliance with LMRT scope of practice to include only performing procedures to which license applies.
- Assists with patient flow within assigned outpatient clinic setting.
- Performs technical and supportive patient care skills, incorporating the patient's plan of care and following approved policy and procedure.
