Postdoctoral Fellow, Internal Medicine-Nephrology
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Ph.D., M.D. or Doctoral equivalent in any field. Scientific research experience.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The postdoctoral fellow will conduct, report and present research in his/her field of study under the supervision of a faculty mentor. This is a training position and is not expected to be a permanent position.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Participate in research design, data analysis and grant and manuscript preparation.
- Strong background in immunology, cancer research and confocal (Nikon preferred) microscopy.
- 5 year's experience with tissue immunofluorescence microscopy, tissue preparation and analysis software.
- 2 yea's experience with multiplexed imaging of tissue sections, tissue clearing protocols.
- Attend research team meetings and present articles as appropriate
- Assist with inventory and request orders for general use laboratory supplies
- Attend training seminars and scientific presentations
- Strong background in ELISA, Western blot, histology, genotyping, gel electrophoresis.
- Attend research team meetings and present project progression/articles as scheduled.
- Maintain cell culture room duty on assignment.
- Collect and assist with submission of study related documents, study protocols and study protocol amendments for submission to IRB/IACUC per policy and procedure.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Performs other job-related assignments as assigned
- Conduct literature searches and retrieve articles and other project-related tasks
- Maintain animal cages in mice room via genotyping, breeding, weaning, feeding, sample collections and proper euthanasia
- Opportunities may be available to assist with conducting culturally competent translations
- Collect and entry of data into study case report forms and/or electronic data capture system
- Collect and assist with the submission of study related documents, study protocols and study protocol amendments for submission to the IRB per policy and procedure
- Utilize study-related technology and equipment as part of data collection procedures
- Assist with research design and research development in the Department of Nephrology in Internal Medicine
- Train students for lab techniques and lab duties
- Assist maintaining lab safety and cleaning rules
- Assist maintaining animal management protocols
- Perform discussions on lab improvement
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- PhD
- Enthusiastic, self-motivated, efficient and interact well with others as part of a team.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to organize and perform well on several concurrent research projects.
- Ability to work with community partners to conduct research studies
- Interest in health equity research
- Experience in data analysis and statistics; familiarity with presenting and publishing scientific papers
- Ability to work in an interdisciplinary field towards the project goal in an academic setting, ability to supervise students and technical personnel
- Ability to build rapport, navigate sensitive topics, and maintain confidentiality with a diverse pool of research participants
- Ability to collaborate within multi-disciplinary team settings.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends if needed
- Strong communication, data analysis, computer and organizational skills.
- Strong research methodology skills
- Expertise in data analysis techniques
- Highly organized, flexible, work well with interdisciplinary teams
