JOB DESCRIPTION:
A NIH-funded 2-year collaborative and cross disciplinary research training.
Trainees choose their area of research and primary mentor from accomplished program faculty at the Mitchell Center for Neurodegenerative diseases.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
We are looking for a highly motivated, innovative and results-oriented postdoctoral trainees to study mechanisms of Alzheimer’s disease for translational applications. Our highly collaborative faculty reach across multiple departments allowing trainees to employ and develop a number of experimental approaches to the problems associated with Alzheimer’s disease. Our training program incorporates cellular animal models, disease progression mechanisms and pharmacological manipulations, immunotherapeutic approaches targeting tau and amyloid oligomers, synaptic electrophysiology, vascular dysfunction, sex differences, DNA and RNA damage, neuroinflammation, as well as molecular mechanisms of cognitive resilience.
A strength of our training program is the investment that UTMB has made in developing a highly collaborative team as demonstrated by joint publications and funded grants. Our postdoctoral trainees are closely mentored throughout their training and participate in a certificate program in advance biomedical research strategies. All trainees will participate in seminars, community building events, journal clubs, and active collaborative research training. We have established a framework that enabled us to train and mentor postdoctoral trainees on their way to becoming independent scientists to help address the Alzheimer's medical needs of the country
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Ph.D., M.D. or Doctoral equivalent in biomedical sciences Scientific research experience.
This is a T32 Grant-Applicants must be a permanent US resident.

SALARY:
