Pharmacy Technologist Specialist - Quality, Clear Lake Campus
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School or equivalent
- Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP)
- Three (3) years of technician experience with one (1) year of professional work experience in a related field of specialty
- OR
- One (1) year of pharmacy technician experience and an associate or bachelor’s degree in a directly related field of specialty
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in a directly related field of specialty
- ACPE approved IV (sterile products) certification
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Five (5) or more years of hospital pharmacy experience.
- Knowledge of current standards and regulations pertaining to pharmacy practice (e.g., TSBP, USP, TJC, DEA and FDA).
- Knowledge of medication, equipment and procedures used in pharmacy operations.
- Knowledge of controlled substances handling policies to identify suspected diversion.
- Knowledge of cleanroom dynamics, principles and basic workflow.
- Proficient in quality and safety responsibilities throughout the pharmacy department.
- Proficient with performance improvement tools to contribute to medication safety initiatives. (e.g., FMEA, RCA, PDCA)
- Proficient using data management tools. (e.g excel)
- Possess the analytical ability to identify deficiencies and make recommendations for improvement and safety.
- Possess independent judgement and communicate effectively with peers and colleagues within the department and across the health system.
- Experience performing quality improvement audits within various areas of pharmacy operations.
