Nurse Practitioner, Neurology - Faculty
JOB SUMMARY
Provides advanced practice health care services as well as documentation of services, collaborates with colleagues and clinical director, supervises assigned support staff, participates in quality assurance activities, and demonstrates a commitment to quality health care.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications:
- Completion of a graduate level (or higher) nurse practitioner program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
- No experience required
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS
Required:
- Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP)
- Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) by the Texas Board of Nursing (TBON)
- Licensed Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in a nurse practitioner clinical area of specialization by the Texas Board of Nursing (TBON)
Current RN’s who have not yet completed their nurse practitioner program or recent graduates who have not yet obtained their ANCC/AANP certification or APRN nurse practitioner license are eligible to apply for this position. However, official employment is contingent upon the successful completion of an accredited nurse practitioner program, ANCC/AANP certification and APRN nurse practitioner licensure.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree with NP certification. Current license or valid permit to practice professional nursing in Texas. No experience required.
Job Duties:
The nurse practitioner functions as an advanced practitioner providing primary health care for a caseload of patients in the area of clinical specialization.
- Supports neurology in their clinical operations.
- Supports neurology inpatient services.
- Operates independent clinics to see neurology patients.
- Follows up on labs and diagnostic studies and returns patient phone calls.
- Follows up on patients after discharge.
- Executes physicians’ orders in accordance with legal, ethical, and institutional standards.
- Executes diagnostic & therapeutic procedures the physicians may assign.
- Adheres to internal controls established for the department.
Preferred Qualifications:
Clinical experience working in neurology
Salary Range:
Commensurate with experience.
