Magnetic Resonance Safety Officer (MRSO)
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Required certification from one of the following credentialing organizations:
- American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) – or -
- American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT)
- Required certification from the ABMRS as a MRSO/MRSC within 1 year of hire.
- Registration as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT-GC) through the Texas Medical Board, if applicable
- American Heart Association BLS
- Five (5) year experience as an MRI Technologist
PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- Master's degree preferred
- Certified Radiology Administrator preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Strong computer skills including email and ability to comprehend and utilize electronic medical record system and PACS systems. Use of MRI equipment, contrast injectors and general office equipment.
- Must have exceptional organizational skills for maintaining records.
- Must have exceptional communication and follow through skills to work with vendors, physicians, staff and management.
- Consistently model AIDET principles, service excellence and service recovery. Consistently demonstrate commitment to safe practices while abiding by all OSHA and HIPAA guidelines.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- Includes office, patient care units, and invasive procedure areas
- May include exposure to hazardous chemicals, blood borne pathogens, and radiation
- Adherence to universal precautions is required
- Extended periods of standing and walking are required
- Able to flex hours and work other shifts to meet needs related to unanticipated acuity; in order to meet operational needs
OTHER:
- Required to travel between various UTMB imaging sites.
