Imaging Library Supervisor - Radiology Film Library
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate degree in health sciences, radiology, or related field required.
- Three (3) years of professional experience in a medical or imaging setting, with supervisory or leadership experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Clinical experience in a Radiology Imaging Library
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS
Required:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
JOB SUMMARY
The Imaging Library Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the hospital’s medical imaging archive, ensuring accurate cataloging, secure storage, and timely retrieval of diagnostic images. This role requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and collaboration with radiology and clinical teams to maintain compliance with healthcare regulations and support patient care. The Imaging Library Supervisor works independently and possesses advanced expertise in both Imaging Library operations and the responsibilities of Reading Room Assistant roles.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Oversees day-to-day operation of the Imaging Library and Reading Room Assistant (RRA) roles
- Provides after-hours assistance to the RRA staff and radiologic technologists needing assistance in correcting studies in Epic and PACS for the radiologists to interpret STAT studies.
- Represents the Imaging Department in new project meetings as delegated, ensuring internal processes are aligned to support new initiatives in collaboration with other departments.
- Supervises, directs and evaluates Imaging Library Representative, Sr personnel on performance.
- Maintains staffing levels and PTO requests for all Imaging Library Representative personnel.
- Monitors Epic ED Status Board and expedites reading of Imaging Studies to the radiologists that have been waiting over 30 minutes for interpretation.
- Determines when to send studies to Texas Radiology Associates (TRA - 3rd party Radiologist Reading Group) for interpretation of ED STAT exams and Routine exams when the Radiologists request assistance.
- Utilizes Epic Radiant to schedule radiology exams of Outside Imaging studies for interpretation of the studies by the Radiologists.
- Provides direct, professional, and knowledgeable interactions with patients, physicians, referral sources and the treatment team.
- Successfully completes competency-based training and testing on an annual basis.
Marginal or Periodic Functions:
- Orders Imaging Library and RRA supplies judiciously.
- Communicates process changes to Imaging Library and Reading Room Assistant staff
- Assists in annual evaluations of all staff in the Imaging Library Representative roles.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Proficient with process of uploading Outside Imaging Studies via CD and PC.
- Proficient in using AMBRA, PowerShare, and secure mail systems to electronically transfer patient images to patients and external institutions.
- Demonstrated ability to manage staff, coordinate operations, and deliver high-level customer service.

DECISION-MAKING RESPONSIBILITY
Decisions include day-to-day supervision of staff and oversight of radiology imaging studies to ensure optimal operational efficiency and highest standards of patient care. Ensures optimal standards are maintained for the ingestion of Imaging Studies from outside institutions, studies are interpreted in a timely fashion, and urgent issues are communicated to referring providers.
