Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent and/or five years related experience.
  • Must possess sufficient educational background and/or experience to conduct clinical applications analysis and/or programming of complex systems, analysis of clinical workflows, implementation of solutions, and knowledge of system adoption strategies.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:

Certification in Epic Bridges highly desirable.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 8-10 years of experience with Cloverleaf integration engine and strong knowledge of interface design, HL7, TCL, and healthcare integration standards.
  • Proven experience with Epic Bridges module and other Epic tools for integration and interoperability.
  • Solid understanding of HL7, FHIR, XML, and X12 standards.
  • Strong analytical skills, with a proactive approach to solving complex integration challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills to facilitate collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

 

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for formulating and designing specifications for highly complex software and programming applications and/or modifies/maintains existing applications. Investigate, identify, and implements appropriate solutions for clinical systems to support new and existing initiatives, enhance patient care, increase operational efficiency, and ensure regulatory compliance. Responsible for acquiring an understanding of the assigned system applications, functions, and features end-users would experience. Participates in and leads workforce groups to identify and employ technical and application initiatives for best practices and enhanced healthcare operations in alignment with UTMB’s mission.

 

Job Duties:

  • Design, develop, and maintain interfaces using Epic Bridges to connect Epic with other clinical and administrative systems.
  • Leverage Cloverleaf to manage and monitor HL7 interfaces, ensuring data integrity and consistent message delivery across systems.
  • Collaborate with clinical and technical teams to understand integration requirements, assess impact, and deliver solutions aligned with project goals and organizational needs Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve interface issues promptly to minimize system downtime.
  •  Conduct interface testing and validation to ensure high data accuracy and compliance with healthcare regulations.
  •  Prepare and maintain documentation, including interface specifications, design diagrams, and operational procedures.
  •  Stay current with industry standards, especially HL7 and FHIR, to maintain best practices in healthcare interoperability.
  •  Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members and contribute to developing integration standards and workflows.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Project management skills and experience in a healthcare IT setting.
  •  Familiarity with scripting languages, such as TCL, to enhance interface customization and troubleshooting.
  •  8-10 years of experience with Cloverleaf and/or other interface engines and familiarity with different EHR systems.

 

Salary Range:

Actual salary commensurate with experience.

 

Work Schedule:

Partial Remote, onsite as needed. Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm, and as needed on occasion.
