Emergncy Medical Technician I - CMC - Estelle
The mission of Correctional Managed Care is to address the healthcare needs of underserved patient populations within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) and the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD).
JOB SUMMARY:
Coordinates the most efficient transportation mode for each patient. Work is performed under the direction of the EMS Operations officer, with latitude for the exercise of independent judgment and initiative within the limits of established policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinates medically related transfers of patients from sending to receiving facilities based on triage information received about the patient.
- Operates computer terminal to input patient information, vehicle status, and crew assignments.
- Gathers and records information related to the level of care actually required during transfer (based on patient's medical condition).
- Dispatches appropriate resources to complete patient transfers in the most cost-effective manner that ensures appropriate level of care en route.
- Collects information related to vehicle maintenance, repair costs, outside vendor utilization, and other operational statistical data as required.
- Adheres to internal controls established for department.
- Performs related duties as required.
EQUIPMENT:
Standard patient care supplies, equipment and mechanical devices.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Located within the confines of a prison, jail or juvenile detention center. Security clearance is required; pre-employment drug testing is also required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High school or GED equivalent. Current certification as an Emergency Medical Technician - Basic by the Texas Department of Health.
Salary is commensurate with years of relevant work experience.
