Durable Medical Equip Tech - CMC - Huntsville
The mission of Correctional Managed Care is to address the healthcare needs of underserved patient populations within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) and the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD).
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for the maintenance, repair, and replacement of durable medical equipment in multiple
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Contributes to the success of UTMB Correctional Managed Care.
- Responsible for selecting and ordering equipment and ensuring equipment delivery to the facility and appropriate users.
- Tests and maintains equipment to ensure proper functionality.
- Assist with basic preventative and corrective maintenance tasks and performs maintenance repairs on wheelchairs.
- Assembles, adjusts, and repairs manual wheelchairs and rollators.
- Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure established for department.
- Performs other related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Ability to read and interpret instructions.
- Ability to sit, stand, push, pull, walk, climb, reach, and regularly and occasionally lift 0-100 lbs.
- Basic computer skills to include Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Proficient in basic hand and power tools.

EQUIPMENT:
- Equipment, tools and materials associated with the specialized field. Standard office equipment.
- Proper safety and precaution must be closely observed when operating and repairing specialized equipment and systems.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Standard clinic environment. May be required to work within the confines of a prison, jail, or juvenile detention center.
- May be exposed to such occupational hazards as communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens, ionizing & non-ionizing radiation, hazardous medications and disoriented or combative patients or others.
Security clearance is required; pre-employment drug testing is also required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or equivalent. No experience required.
Salary is commensurate with years of relevant work experience.
