JOB DESCRIPTION: In this role you will provide direction, supervision, and technical skills in the operation and management of the non-invasive laboratories in support of patient care and research.  Responsibilities include providing non-invasive diagnostic testing and services through supervision and training of staff, maintaining the laboratories, quality assurance, and program development.

 

UTMB Health is a modern health sciences center with world-renowned research facilities and a dynamic network of hospitals and clinics located throughout the Gulf Coast region of Texas, and we are searching for an experienced Cardiovascular manager to join our ECHO Lab team.

This position will lead the non-invasive service here at UTMB Galveston, League City, and Angleton Danbury campuses. We focus on education and professional development as we work alongside with faculty and fellows. As a teaching facility, we provide wide range of procedures including structural heart cases to serve our diverse patient population including correctional care.

The manager position will lead a dynamic team of sonographers and nurses in the ECHO Lab department. UTMB ECHO lab in Galveston is accredited from the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) for 10 years. If you have the heart and talent to do great things, UTMB Health is where you belong.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Directs and supervises the daily technical operations of the non-invasive laboratories across the UTMB Health System.
  • Applies the profession’s code of ethics in all aspects of practice.
  • Assigns staff and workload requirements respecting changing priorities in daily operations.
  • Provides training and staff development through ongoing in-services.
  • Assists in organizing and maintaining a formal course of development in non-invasive laboratories techniques for trainees, technicians and support staff.
  • Performs procedures in areas of competency, as required, and assists Medical Director, physicians, and other professional medical staff with difficult technical problems in non-invasive diagnostics.
  • Gathers data and participates in the department’s quality assurance and improvement plan to achieve a defined level of quality and appropriateness of quality care services.
  • Maintains knowledge of, observes, and enforces the safety measures in Environment of Care.
  • Organizes special research

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Associate’s Degree
  • Completion of an accredited ultrasound program
  • Five years of related experience in non-invasive laboratory to include two years of progressive management experience
  • Certified as a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)
  • Current  American Heart Association BLS certification

 

SALARY RANGE: $98,923 to $158,277 annually, commensurate with experience.
