Athletic Trainer - Galveston College (up to 19 hours per week)
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from a Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) accredited college or university
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS
Licensed Athletic Trainer in Texas
Basic Life Support
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Ability to professionally partner with athletes, coaches, trainers, and parents, and others in a high stress environment
- Specific athletic and first aid training
- Analytical/interpersonal skills to address training room needs for assessment and treatment/rehab of injured athletes and the ability to handle emergency sideline coverages
- Physical or mental abilities to handle high stress and emergent healthcare situations on the sideline during sporting events and/or practices
Work Schedule
This position is for up to 19.99 hours per week with no benefits. Schedule varies.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/EQUIPMENT
Standard athletic training room and team sports arenas to include but not limited to football fields, soccer fields, basketball courts and baseball fields. Standard hospital, clinical, laboratory and/or office environments. Travel requirements may include attendance at home and away games, attendance at athletic training rooms of contracted local schools and other physical demands of job. May be exposed to such occupational hazards as communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens, ionizing & non-ionizing radiation, hazardous medications and disoriented or combative patients or others.
