Telemetry Monitoring Tech - LCH (Days)
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of EMT – Paramedic program or graduation from related allied health sciences program or one (1) year related experience.
- Passing score of 80% or higher of UTMB’s arrhythmia test.
JOB SUMMARY:
To provide specialized advanced technical skills in all technical aspects of the telemetry monitoring system.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Operates and troubleshoots all functions of the telemetry monitoring system:
-Admits, transfers, and discharges patient and enters all required information in telemetry monitoring system.
-Adjusts alarms.
-Reviews trends and alarms.
-Cleans and maintains telemetry monitors/holders and accounts for monitor upon patient discharge.
-Accounts for all monitors at the end of each assigned shift.
-Orders monitoring supplies.
-Obtains and documents rhythm strips per unit/department standards
-Maintains log book on all monitored patients. - Provides precise continual surveillance and analysis of cardiac rhythms on electrocardiographic Central Station:
-Interprets EKG rhythms.
-Recognizes significant EKG events.
-Communicates information to the responsible individual within an appropriate time frame.
-Immediately reports significant or life threatening changes to a RN. - Participates in orienting and teaching of nursing staff, physicians and students as related to monitoring equipment.
- Assists with maintenance of unit equipment.
-Performs daily quality checks of freestanding cardio-defibrillators. - Maintains a safe environment:
-Ensures that equipment has current electrical and maintenance inspections.
-Reports all malfunctioning equipment. - Provides age appropriate interaction and care as indicated.
- Uses aseptic techniques and infection control measures in performance of duties.
- Recognizes patient care priorities, treatment plans, objectives, and potential crisis.
- Respects and supports patient / family rights.
- Practices positive guest and peer relations. Participates in and supports quality improvement activities.
- Demonstrates acceptable productivity and practices cost containment.
- Functions as an interdependent and supportive team member.
- Participates in and promotes the development of self and others.
Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
SALARY RANGE:
Commensurate with experience.
