Student Assistant, School of Medicine Associate Dean-Student Affairs
Minimum Qualifications:
Students interested in applying must be a current JSSOM MD or PA student in good academic and professional standing. Indicators of good standing include:
- No history of professionalism issues.
- No course remediations.
- Score of 70 or higher on all course exams.
- Performance feedback from JSSOM faculty and/or staff may be considered.
- Previous experience with teaching, tutoring, or mentoring is preferred.
- MD Eligibility: rising MS2s, rising MS3s, and rising MS4s.
- PA Eligibility: rising second years (PAS-2)
Students who currently have a UTMB GA, TA, or Federal Work Study position are ineligible to hold the tutoring position.
Job Duties:
- The MD and PA Peer Tutors are part-time, with the expectation that they will work a minimum of 5 hours per month.
- They organize and host weekly group tutoring sessions for MS1, MS2, and PA-S1 coursework throughout the academic year.
- They also hold one-on-one tutoring sessions as requested by MS1, MS2, MS3, and PA-S1 students.
- The position runs through the academic year.
