EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Master’s degree in social work from a school of social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE)
At least two (2) years of experience in a medical or behavioral health setting
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW or LCSW-S) in the State of Texas required
Job Description:
Social Work Clinician - Practice is characterized by independent decision-making and a consistent approach to holistic patient care. The LCSW functions within the interdisciplinary team and initiates action to address patient care concerns. Serves as a clinical leader and has broad experience and advanced knowledge and skills.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, as applicable to assigned patient population(s)
- Establishes and maintains effective therapeutic relationships with patients and interdisciplinary team members in assigned setting(s).
- Utilizes clinical knowledge and evidence-based practice techniques to effectively assess and intervene with assigned population(s). Independently implements evidence-based treatment modalities.
- Demonstrates skill in the clinical practice of social work, facilitating direct and indirect services to clients in health settings and working within a multidisciplinary team in evaluation and treatment planning for individuals, families and groups. Completes clinically appropriate and timely documentation.
- Liaisons with patient, patient families, on-site departments and community agencies to coordinate current treatment and/or facilitate aftercare services
- Provides mentorship in current practice trends to all levels of social work practice, including student interns. Identifies, develops, and implements opportunities for professional growth of peers.
- Demonstrates a commitment to the improvement of social work practice and engagement with assigned population(s) and interdisciplinary team members.
- Initiates and completes evidence-based practice and performance improvement projects, offering solutions and participating in activities.
- Demonstrates a commitment to the social work value of social justice by advocating for patient and family empowerment and independence to make autonomous health care decisions and access needed services within the health care system.
- LCSW-S may be required to serve as clinical supervisor for UTMB LMSWs working towards obtaining clinical licensure with the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners (TSBSWE).
Salary Range:
Commensurate with experience.
