Security Analyst (UT-HIP) - IS-Security
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and one year of IT or security experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience relevant to the role may be considered for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Five (5) years of cybersecurity experience.
- Familiarity with healthcare regulations (HIPAA, HITECH, HITRUST).
Knowledge of NIST cybersecurity standards and risk management frameworks.
Job Summary:
The Security Analyst over Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) plays a critical role in safeguarding sensitive information resources and data, ensuring organizational compliance with industry regulations. This position supports the development, implementation, and monitoring of security policies, risk management processes, and compliance frameworks such as HIPAA, TAC 202, UTS 165, and NIST cybersecurity standards.
Job Duties;
Under direct supervision, the Security Analyst supports information resources, security environments, and applications to ensure they are adequately secure and protected. Assists in identifying, investigating, and reporting fraudulent use, misuse, and/or abuse of information resources and applications. Supports routine to complex security problems and solutions.
- Assist the Security team in meeting information security requirements and supporting security projects.
- Provide technical support for data confidentiality, system integrity, system reliability, auditing, and system recovery methods.
- Configure, maintain, and support security software, utilities, and hardware.
- Maintain and support existing architecture and design.
- Assist in investigations of unauthorized access, modification, disclosure, or destruction of information.
- Participate in investigations related to theft of information resources, abuse of computer systems, or violations of security/privacy policies.
- Support monitoring standards and incident investigation procedures.
- Support and analyze controls to ensure protection of all information system assets.
- Adhere to internal controls and established reporting structures.
- Function as a dedicated security resource for UT-HIP and TPI-related managed security services.
- Serve as a POC with UTMB Security for system audits, risk assessments, and HITRUST assessments.
- Collaborate with designated UTMB staff and leadership to ensure the UT-HIP environment meets and maintains UTMB security standards.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary Range:
Actual salary commensurate with experience.
Work Schedule:
Partial Remote to be determined by the Department. Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, and as needed on occasion.
