Research Scientist I or II, Microbiology And Immunology
Research Scientist I:
- MQ’s PhD, MD or DVM, no experience required:
- Evaluates selects and applies standard scientific techniques and procedures while using judgment when necessary to adapt standard methods and techniques.
Research Scientist II:
- MQ’s PhD, MD, or DVM, and 1-year related experience required
- Sufficient professional experience to assure competence as fully trained scientist in a specific discipline or area of expertise.
A Research Scientist II position is available immediately to study the pathogenesis of Ebola, Marburg, Lassa, CCHF, Nipah, and/or Hendra viruses and to develop medical countermeasures against these agents. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or M.D. with a background in virology or pathology. The candidate must have experience working with infectious agents and BSL-3 or BSL-4 laboratory experience working with animals including nonhuman primates. The candidate must be able to plan and perform experiments in an independent manner with minimal supervision. The applicant will also be responsible for writing papers, protocols, and lab reports associated with these projects. The applicant must meet all State and Federal requirements necessary for working with Select Agents.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
At least two years of hands on experience working with infected animals including nonhuman primates in a BSL-4 work environment is highly preferred. More than three years of experience working with viruses at BSL-3 or BSL-4 is highly preferred. More than three years of experience in immunology is highly preferred. More than two years of experience in flow cytometry is highly preferred. More than two years of hands on experience working with NanoString nCounter system is highly preferred. The ideal candidate would have a DOJ clearance and more than two years BSL-4 experience working with viruses and animals.
SALARY:
Salary range: 49,111-85,944, dependent on experiences
Depending on the experience and education, the candidate might be considered for a Research Scientist II position.
