Research Scientist I, Family Medicine
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph. D, M.D, D.O., or D.V.M in related field and no experience required.
Job Description:
Conducts innovative scientific investigation by developing theories and devising scientific methods and procedures to apply scientific principles, theories and research in projects related to the mission of UTMB. Committed to the discovery of new innovative biomedical and health services knowledge leading to increasingly effective and accessible health care. Evaluates, selects, and applies standard scientific techniques and procedures while using judgment when necessary to adapt standard methods and techniques.
Job Duties:
- Submit manuscripts to reputable peer-reviewed journals
- Engage in career development activities (e.g., conferences, research-related trainings)
- Respond effectively to direction and feedback provided by the faculty mentor
- Contribute to research projects via study design, data collection, analysis, manuscript preparation, or presentation of data at meetings, including developing and submitting a grant proposal as principal investigator (e.g., small pilot or feasibility study)
- Mentor graduate and medical students, as needed
- Performs related duties as required.
Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities:
- Considerable knowledge of a health-related field or discipline.
- Considerable oral and written communication skills.
Salary Range:
commensurate with experience
