Research Associate I, Department of Surgery
Min Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in basic science or equivalent; no experience required.
Specific Job Related Duties:
- All the work will be conducted in BLS2/ABSL2 laboratory settings.
- Under supervision, perform research experiments related to vascular and cancer biology in the context of cysteine metabolism.
- Learn how to set up and conduct research experiments with quantitative and qualitative analysis followed by technical instructions. Troubleshooting and improving assays will be required in the long-term.
- Learn how to conduct cell culture experiments, establish genetically modified immortalized and primary cell lines, perform co-culture and angiogenesis assays, and master key molecular biology methods, such as qPCR, ELISA, fluorescence microscopy, kinetic or endpoint assays, histology staining, etc.
- Involvement in small animal experiments; treatments in rodents (gavage, i.v., i.p.), tumor inoculation, breeding and genotyping mice, tissue and plasma sample collection, maintaining rodent laboratory records. The applicant will be trained for small animal surgeries.
- Assemble, calibrate, operate, and make minor modifications to various laboratory equipment as defined by appropriate guidelines and standard operating procedures.
- Maintain a detailed record of all experiments performed in the laboratory.
- Analyze, organize, and present data during weekly lab meetings and collaborative meetings.
- Assist in the compilation and tabulation of data and provide preliminary analysis.
Salary Range:
Commensurate with experience. 100% Grant funded.
