Psychologist, Sr - Bell Unit
- Contributes to the success of the Correctional Managed Care organization.
- Serves as a clinical authority on matters involving psychology, and provides clinical supervision to all mental health clinicians. Interprets Mental Health Services Policy and Procedures to subordinate staff when clarification is needed.
- Provides clinical consultation on difficult or complex cases; and takes an active role in conducting the evaluation in the more difficult or complex cases.
- Assures that mental health services are provided in compliance with Mental Health Services Policy and Procedures.
- Provides ongoing training for clinical staff regarding Psychiatric Inpatient Program.
- Plans, organizes, and provides leadership and functional direction for a multidisciplinary staff.
- Serves as psychological consultant for Mental Health Services to review and prepare affidavits of opinion as to the quality and appropriateness of services provided by mental health staff.
- Communicates the objectives and procedures of inpatient and disabilities programs to outside agencies/community/organizations.
- Prepares progress and other statistical narrative reports for legislative/executive review.
- Coordinates, monitors and reviews all data related to the UR extension and discharge process.
- Participates on the Facility QI/QM Committee. Develops and implements the mental health QI/QM program. Collects and evaluates required data.
- Ensure that subordinate mental health clinicians obtain and maintain appropriate licensure and certification. Supervises master's level clinicians with licensure requierments as needed.
- Provides and coordinates in-service training and continuing education for mental health clinicians.
- Conducts Quarterly and Annual Performance Evaluations on unit mental health staff that are supervised directly.
- Participates as an active member of the Facility Management Team.
- Maintains professional and positive relationships with the unit wardens and other security personnel. Keeps clinicians informed and updated on security issues.
- Performs all duties consistent with the requirements prescribed by UTMB and Facility Policies and Procedures.
- Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure established for department.
- Performs related duties as assigned by the Director and Administrative Director - Mental Health Services.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Doctoral degree in psychology from a college, university or school of professional psychology accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting body listed by the Commission on Recognition of Post-Secondary Education. Licensed as a psychologist at the doctoral level by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists will automatically qualify as meeting degree requirements.
- Licensure by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists is required. Applicants seeking licensure in Texas may be employed for a period of time necessary to complete supervised experience requirements and/or to take the next scheduled exam.
- Five (5) years of clinical staff supervision.
Salary is commensurate with years of relevant work experience.
