Postdoctoral Fellow - Sealy Institute for Drug Discovery
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The postdoctoral fellow will conduct, report and present research in his/her field of study under the supervision of a faculty mentor. This is a training position, and is not expected to be a permanent position.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Plan and perform experiments independently
- Prepare lab reports and manuscripts
- Performs a variety of immunology and virology assays and procedures including cell culture, ELISA, western blot, PCR, plaque assay, and flow cytometry
- Assists with the conduct of studies with animals
- Interacts and perform team studies with other researchers, including graduate students and research staff
- Capable of presenting data at scientific meetings
MARGINAL OR PERIODIC FUNCTIONS:
- Performs related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
- Ability to plan and perform experiments independently
- Ability to observe and record experiments/research and report accurately
- Writing skills for protocols, reports, journal manuscripts and funding applications
- Mentoring and teaching skills for interaction with graduate students
- Presentation skills
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Ph.D., M.D. or Doctoral equivalent in Virology or Immunology or related fields
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (Work experience, skills/competencies, education, license/certification)
Prior training/experience with animal and/or immunological studies
SALARY:
Commensurate with experience.
