Postdoctoral Fellow Position in HIV and Eradication
Dr. Eliseo Eugenin Laboratory, Department of Neurobiology, UTMB, Galveston.
Our laboratory integrates cell biology, neuroscience, metabolomics, immunology, and translational approaches to identify novel therapeutic targets to eradicate viral reservoirs in different cells and tissues including monocyte/macrophages and T cells targeting metabolomics and cell to cell communication.
Our research focuses on:
· NeuroHIV and viral reservoirs
· HIV and substance of use disorder
· Cell-to-cell communication role in HIV mediated bystander damage
· HIV and comorbidities (neurodegeneration and cardiovascular disease) and aging.
· The neuropathogenesis and immunity of BSL3/4 viruses in the brain
This postdoctoral position is in The University of Texas system (UT). UT is committed to fostering the growth of postdoctoral researchers providing the tools to become independent (upon performance). Our university of a leader in infectious diseases including BSL2/3/4 viruses. The Investigator will be responsible for conducting research in a designated field, performing experiments, analyzing data, training students, and contributing to scientific publications and grant submissions.
Our main focuses are in virology and neuroscience, with excellent mentoring and outstanding opportunities for independence and developing your own ideas.
Minimum Qualifications
PhD in a relevant field of study
Preferred Qualifications
· Strong Laboratory Skills and Research Capabilities (HIV infection, primary cell culture, molecular biology techniques)
· Detection of HIV techniques (residual, fully competent and defective)
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively
