Postal Specialist - Department: Galveston Supply Chain Operations
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma and one-year of related experience. Must be capable of demonstrating the ability to perform the essential functions of the job in a post-offer employment test as administered by UTMB Rehab Services, to include the ability to lift up to 63 lbs., floor to knuckle, and frequent bending, standing, and walking.
Job Summary:
Perform a variety of clerical and manual duties associated with the operation of the institutional-wide postal service.
Job Duties:
Perform various clerical duties such as sorting, distributing, collecting, and metering postal materials in accordance with established procedures and applicable Federal postal regulations.
Operate postage meter machine to stamp outgoing letters; weight and stamp packages; sectionalize outgoing mail according to destination. Maintain daily record of all metered mail by the department; record registered and insured mail. Unload incoming supplies and material; verify the number of received goods against invoices; notify supervisor of discrepancies.
Deliver mail to Medical Center patients and pick up outgoing mail.
Maintain clean and orderly conditions in assigned areas.
Responds to customers’ (hospital staff and physicians) requests in a professional helpful and timely manner in person and on the telephone and provides directions and other helpful information to visitors and others while performing distribution duties.
Follows departmental/hospital policies and procedures, rules, and regulations.
Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
Salary Range:
Actual salary commensurate with experience.
Work Schedule:
8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
