Physician - School of Medicine- Community Based Clinic
JOB DESCRIPTION:
To provide leadership for UTMB primary care practices, adult and pediatrics, with the responsibility for ensuring that medical practice meets the standards of the institution. The CBC Chief Medical Director will collaborate with the UTMB Health Directors and School of Medicine Administrator of Primary Care Services and other services to implement the strategic goals for the medical practice model for primary care, and achievement of criteria determined by government and commercial contracts including. Responsibility for all CBC practices to integrate across the continuum and facilitate the delivery of quality health care in alignment with institutional priorities
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Provide medical leadership for designated CBC Providers within the group
- Facilitate an interdisciplinary team management model for patient care across the continuum with services that are integrated and seamless
- Assure provider compliance with all UTMB policies and procedures in conjunction with clinic administration
- Participate in planning and implementation of the primary care growth
- Interviews, in collaboration with Department Chairs and the Vice President, Chief Physician Executive, applicants for CBC provider positions
- Participates in the performance appraisals of all CBC providers
- Implement, as appropriate for UTMB, the value-based care model
- Coordinate with Managed Care contracting and Care Management to ensure that requirements of all payors are met
- Assist with the development of care models that are multidisciplinary and patient focused
- Coordinate primary care services with service lines to ensure that all patient referrals are seamless and appropriate
- Ensure the availability and access of services
- Work with Clinic Medical Directors to monitor physician productivity and efficiency metrics
- Participate in annual budget preparation
- Facilitate communication with referring practitioners and institutions
- Help develop aspects of marketing plans including community presentations, physician CME, etc.
- Promote and facilitate referrals to the Faculty Group Practice and UTMB Health System
- Attend meetings as required
- Participate with Health System Leadership in the annual evaluation of Ambulatory Operations personnel
- Supports and participates in performance improvement initiatives.
- Monitor Patient Satisfaction data, and uses as a basis for performance improvement projects
- Reviews and handles patient complaints, in collaboration with the Vice President/Chief Physician Executive
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The CBC Chief Medical Director must have a M.D. or D.O. degree and a current license to practice medicine in the State of Texas. The CBC Chief Medical Director will have demonstrated leadership capabilities and be able to work collaboratively and effectively with other clinical departments and administrative staff within UTMB. The CBC Chief Medical Director must also demonstrate commitment to the advancement of the UTMB clinical enterprise.
