MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine.
- Board Certification in Psychiatry with at least 7 years of active clinical psychiatric practice post board certification.
- Permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Physicians who are not currently licensed in the state of Texas will be considered; however, if selected for appointment, they must obtain a Texas medical license before start date.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in the provision of psychiatric treatment services to patients in outpatient, inpatient, and emergency department settings.
- Extensive knowledge, experience or training in the fields of aerospace medicine and/or aerospace psychiatry.
- Experience in administrative psychiatry, including professional knowledge in planning, conducting, and evaluating clinical medical programs and managerial practices, including, quality assurance, formal peer review processes and medical staff governance.
- Formal training and experience in the theories, principles, and practices of aerospace medicine and aerospace psychiatry
- Residency training in psychiatry.
- Extensive knowledge in the practice of clinical and emergency psychiatry.
- Current clinical proficiency in psychiatric diagnosis and assessment, psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, and emergency psychiatric assessment.
- Skill in teaching and making oral presentations.
- Demonstrated success at working well with others in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Interpersonal effectiveness, professionalism, and courtesy in dealings with clients, co-workers and other personnel.
- Demonstrated organizational skills for coordinating complex activities and schedules.
- Ability to be flexible and adapt quickly to changing requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary setting where there is can be multiple customers with divergent or competing goals for the project implementation and outcome.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret requirements for real-time implementation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Formal training and experience in aerospace medicine, preferably residency training in aerospace medicine and board eligibility or certification in aerospace medicine; or formal training and extensive experience as a military flight surgeon.
- Experience in providing comprehensive psychiatric care to patients of all age groups, including children, teens and adults.
- Experience evaluating and treating patients in isolated, confined and extreme environments.
- Experience or training in sleep medicine.
- Experience in psychiatric screening of personnel for hazardous missions duties, including aviators, astronauts, or military personnel.
