Nurse Clinician III - VL Surgery - Preop & PACU
Job Summary: The Surgical Pre-Op Phone Call Nurse is responsible for conducting pre-operative phone assessments for patients scheduled for surgery. This role involves gathering patient medical histories, providing pre-operative instructions, and addressing any questions or concerns to ensure patients are well-prepared for their surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct pre-operative phone assessments with patients to gather comprehensive medical histories.
- Review and verify patient information, including allergies, medications, and previous surgical experiences.
- Provide detailed pre-operative instructions, including fasting guidelines, medication adjustments, and arrival times.
- Address patient questions and concerns, providing reassurance and clarity about the surgical process.
- Coordinate with surgical teams, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure all necessary information is communicated.
- Document all patient interactions and information accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Identify and escalate any potential issues or concerns to the appropriate medical staff.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in a surgical or pre-operative setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Knowledge of surgical procedures and pre-operative care.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Experience in patient education and telephone triage.
- Bilingual skills (if applicable).
Working Conditions:
- This position primarily involves phone-based work.
- This position may include hands-on nursing care as needed.
