MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field OR ten (10) plus years related experience
  • Experience with Medical Staff credentialing processes
  • Knowledge of healthcare related regulatory and accreditation requirements and survey methods.
  • Ability to work independently and interdependently.
  • Organization skills to work effectively and efficiently managing projects to meet deadlines.
  • Three (3) years management experience.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Responsible for the review process of data collection and studies involving medical care evaluation/improvement efforts to include criteria for ongoing professional practice evaluation (OPPE) and triggers indicating need for focused professional practice evaluation (FPPE). Facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure OPPE quality metrics are meaningful and appropriate for all specialties involving the Medical Staff.
• Maintains knowledge of current and potential changes in healthcare delivery, including healthcare reform, as it relates to the medical staff.
• Develops goals and defines proactive strategies regarding credentialing and assessment of provider competency in order to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines, i.e. The Joint Commission (TJC), National Commission of Quality Assurance (NCQA), and Medicare/Medicaid guidelines.
• Works to maintain close communication with medical staff leaders, hospital administration and legal counsel for all affairs relating to Medical Staff issues.
• Monitors compliance with the Medical Staff Bylaws in congruence with the Bylaws of the UT System Board of Regents.
• Ensures that appropriate national, regional and local rules and regulations as well as accreditation standards of Joint Commission are maintained.
• Makes recommendation on staffing and equipment needs.
• Mentors staff and objectively evaluates and documents performance, taking corrective action as appropriate; sets professional development and annual operating goals for each staff member
• Assures the completion of employee performance evaluations according to established timelines.
• Assists in the development and planning for medical staff activities, including contributing to theeducational and professional growth of support staff.
• Maintains professional affiliations and enhances professional development to keep current in the latest healthcare trends and developments.
• Identifies appropriate internal department controls with monitoring and adjustments as needed to ensure efficiency and accuracy of work.
• In partnership with contracted services, develops, leads, and directs process changes for facility specific credentialing/privileging needs.
• Maintains close working relationships/partnerships with all clinical and non-clinical hospital departments and the Medical Staff.
