EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Five (5) years of GI Endoscopic Technologist experience
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS
Required:
- Basic Life Support
- Will have one of the following:
− Certificate of Completion of Endoscopy Technology Program
− Society of Gastroenterology Nurses Association (SGNA) Certificate of Completion for SGNA Advanced Associates Program.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Lead Technician, Endoscopy assists physicians or other providers with procedures performed in gastroenterology setting. This position is the expert resource in the use and maintenance of highly complex endoscopy equipment and instrumentation used in Endoscopy. The Lead Technician, Endoscopy is responsible for orientation, training and mentoring of all Endoscopy Technicians. This position is also responsible for developing content and providing in-services to all Endoscopy Technicians as well as Endoscopy Nurses. This position functions with a high degree of autonomy and will assume additional responsibilities as delegated by the Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- In addition to the GI Endoscopic Technologist, Sr. job functions
- Oversees all GI Endo Technicians in the department providing support and guidance with daily tasks.
- Responsible for weekly schedule for Galveston/LCC/CLC Endoscopy
- Responsible for call schedule for Galveston/LCC/CLC Endoscopy
- Orients new GI Techs to the department, reviews competencies and department policies
- Oversees orientation of new GI Techs
- Proficient, and serves as a resource in mechanical cleaning and disinfecting of endoscopic equipment according to manufacturer guidelines
- Ensures appropriate records and logs are maintained for all processes in scope room
- Monitors and oversees ordering of supplies and equipment.
- Maintains clean and safe environment
- Facilitates teamwork by assisting other team members in activities as room cleaning, turnovers, procedure setup, patient transport and scope processing
- Facilitates new supply considerations with Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager, Physicians, and reps
- Serves as a troubleshooter/resource for the department for equipment and supplies
- Ensures all GI Tech competencies are completed yearly
- Other duties as assigned

Salary commensurate with experience
