Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent and/or five years of related experience. Must possess sufficient educational background and/or experience to conduct clinical applications analysis and/or programming of complex systems, analysis of clinical workflows, implementation of solutions, and knowledge of system adoption strategies. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong background in Information Technology, with a focus on advanced troubleshooting and support for clinical applications and server environments.
  • Extensive experience with diagnostic imaging workflows and applications, including PACS, VNA, and other ancillary systems in healthcare settings.
  • Proven experience in integrating third-party applications, such as AI and analytics tools, with core clinical systems like PACS, VNA, and Epic EMR.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data standards such as HL7, DICOM, and FHIR for interoperability and data exchange across clinical applications.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects from initiation to implementation, especially for application upgrades and new system integrations.
  • Track record of identifying and leading process improvements to optimize clinical workflows and enhance system efficiency.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with clinical and technical teams, communicate complex information clearly, and foster positive working relationships with diverse stakeholders.

 

Job Summary:

 This position is responsible for formulating and designing specifications for highly complex software and programming applications and/or modifies/maintains existing applications. Investigates, identifies, and implements appropriate solutions for clinical systems to support new and existing initiatives, enhance patient care, increase operational efficiency, and ensure regulatory compliance. Responsible for acquiring an understanding of the assigned system applications, functions, and features end-users would experience. Participates in and leads workforce groups to identify and employ technical and application initiatives for best practice and enhanced healthcare operations in alignment with UTMB’s mission.

 

Job Duties:

 The EHR Clinical Solutions Analyst will play a critical role in supporting and optimizing a broad portfolio of clinical imaging and ancillary applications across multiple service lines, including Radiology, Cardiology, Radiation Oncology, Ophthalmology, and more. This advanced-level position demands extensive technical expertise, a strong understanding of clinical workflows, and the ability to lead strategic projects that enhance the delivery of care through robust application support and process improvement.

As a key member of the ITS Imaging team, the EHR Clinical Solutions Analyst will handle complex troubleshooting, lead system optimizations, and support large-scale initiatives involving third-party integrations and new system implementations. This position requires close collaboration with departmental leadership, clinicians, and technical staff, focusing on elevating the performance, reliability, and user experience of critical healthcare applications.

  •  Provide expert-level troubleshooting, support, and maintenance for a diverse range of imaging and clinical applications, such as Philips Intellispace PACS, Philips ISCV, GE Muse, various Radiation Oncology systems, and more.
  • Lead complex integration initiatives to enhance interoperability between imaging systems and Epic EMR, working with data standards such as DICOM and HL7.
  • Act as a project lead for major upgrades, new application implementations, and optimizations, ensuring alignment with clinical and operational goals. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define project requirements, timelines, and resources.
  • Serve as a liaison between clinical departments and ITS, maintaining strong relationships with Radiology, Cardiology, Oncology, and other service lines to align application performance with clinical needs.
  • Identify and implement process improvements across supported applications, optimizing workflows and enhancing the efficiency of clinical operations.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions to improve user proficiency and understanding of application functionalities. Create and maintain detailed documentation for applications, including user guides and troubleshooting resources.
  • Provide high-quality support both remotely and on-site at hospital and clinic locations as needed, ensuring timely resolution of critical issues.
  • Actively participate in efforts to improve ITS Imaging team processes and contribute to team development by sharing expertise and mentoring junior staff.
  • This role requires a balance of technical independence and effective collaboration within a team-oriented environment. The ideal candidate should possess a strong analytical mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to handle complex technical workflows. Experience with clinical application support, integration, and a passion for enhancing healthcare delivery through technology is essential.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in supporting clinical applications or imaging systems in a healthcare environment
  • Demonstrated experience with PACS, VNA, or other diagnostic imaging systems, particularly with troubleshooting and technical support.
  • Hands-on experience with integrating and maintaining third-party applications, such as AI tools, in a clinical setting.
  • Experience supporting clinical workflows and troubleshooting imaging applications across multiple service lines.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills for clinical applications, workstations, and server environments, with an emphasis on clinical imaging systems.
  • Strong understanding of third-party integration with healthcare systems, particularly with AI and analytics tools in imaging workflows.
  • Proficiency in healthcare data standards, including HL7, DICOM, and FHIR, for efficient interoperability and data exchange.
  • Exceptional skills in diagnosing complex technical issues and implementing practical, scalable solutions.
  • Ability to independently manage projects, coordinate resources, and ensure timely completion, especially for new implementations and major upgrades.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for working with clinical and technical stakeholders, with the ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements within ITS and clinical workflows.
  • Must possess strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to cultivate positive working relationships with customers and coworkers. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work individually or as a member of a team. 
  • Ability to multi-task and work on high-priority and highly visible tasks.

 

Salary Range:

 Actual salary commensurate with experience.

  

Work Schedule:

Local Remote work up to 100% per pay period, with some onsite support needed for troubleshooting and application support, 8 am to 5pm, and on call as needed.
