Hospital Charge Capture Analyst - Galveston
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Finance, Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Nursing, or related field. 2 years of related experience.
PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Certified Coding Associate (CCA) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification from AHIMA; or Certified Outpatient Coder (COC) or Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) certification from AAPC preferred. Successfully complete General Compliance Coder testing.
JOB SUMMARY:
Function: Develops and tracks meaningful charging metrics and key performance indicators
for Health System departments to ensure accurate and optimal revenue capture. Interprets metrics and reporting; manages issues; Utilizes appropriate tools to support hospital charge capture, revenue reconciliation, and root cause analysis of department charge variance trends. Partners with Revenue Integrity and Health System department counterparts to organize initiatives surrounding charge capture opportunities and continual process improvement on an ongoing basis.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Coordinate with report writers to develop department-specific reporting on revenue trends and analyze reports on an ongoing basis.
• Proactively identify and analyze gross revenue improvement opportunities as related to Health System department charging.
• Facilitate prioritization of Revenue Guardian edits, related issues, and ongoing development of the tool.
• Coordinate with Health System department leads, Revenue Integrity department, and IS to ensure completion of Revenue Guardian checks and root cause resolution.
• Monitor workqueue activity to ensure timeliness of charge entry and follow up with charging areas as necessary.
• Partner with the CDM team to ensure correctness of coding in the CDM and provide ongoing education to charging departments.
• Maintain hospital charging related issues list and proposals for resolution.
• Meet with Health System department stakeholders to review reporting and assist with root cause analysis, which may result in recommended workflow or system changes to improve performance.
• Promote charging process standardization across related departments in order to improve revenue capture.
• Coordinate with IS on completion of any build or enhancements to the system to resolve technical issues related to revenue capture.
• Ensure any necessary training is provided to end users in order to correct existing workflows or educate on new processes.
