Histology Technician IV, Dermatology Pathology
Minimum Qualifications:
High school or equivalent and five years related experience. ASCP Certified.
Job Description:
To provide supervision of histology technicians and instruction of students in the science of histology technique including tissue structure.
Job Duties:
Hires and trains personnel in methods of histologic technique, including frozen sections, paraffin and plastic-embedded material, special staining, immunoperoxidase preparations, and supervises their work.
Schedules and establishes work hours for staff.
Requisitions supplies and equipment as needed.
Directs repair and maintenance of equipment.
Controls custodial operations.
Develops new laboratory procedures and revises old ones upon consultation with the Office of the Chairman, Department of Pathology, or designee.
Instructs medical students and resident staff on histologic techniques.
Gives students general assistance, counseling, and guidance.
Directs preparation and maintenance of teaching slides for general and special postgraduate work.
Adheres to internal controls established for department.
Marginal or Periodic Functions:
- Performs related duties as required.
Salary Range:
Commensurate with experience.
