Hearing Screener - Infant Screening (Part- Time)(Work 20 hrs per wk)
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
High school or equivalent. Must be able to successfully complete the following training requirements: Automated hearing screening, Infection control, universal precautions, and CPR. 60 hrs of college credit preferred, health-care experience preferred
Good computer skills, including data entry; basic verbal skills; good interpersonal skills; able to use automated optoacoustic emissiom and auditory brainstem response screening equipment.
JOB SUMMARY:
Performs newborn hearing screenings using automated screening equipment. Assists junior staff as needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Prepares equipment for testing, including daily biological equipment calibration and probe checks
- Performs automated hearing screenings.
- Obtains, imports, and/or enters patient demographic information into screening equipment/database.
- Downloads screening results from hearing screening device into database.
- Charts screening results in electronic medical records
- Arranges and coordinates follow-up for outpatient screening appointments
- Participates in preparation of the monthly screener schedules
- Prepares screening result letters; provides written and verbal results to parents/caregivers
- Performs daily biological equipment calibration and probe checks to ensure proper functioning of equipment.
- Maintains patient’s privacy and confidentiality of information and records at all times.
- Stays abreast of new/improved techniques within the scope of responsibility.
- Performs related duties as required.
