HCSS Polysomnographer

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

One year experience required. Current BCLS, Board Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist-or-Satisfactory completion of an Accredited Polysomnography Training Program-or-Satisfactory completion of the Accredited Sleep Technologist Education Program (A-STEP), and- Registered in Sleep Technology through one of the following organizations: The American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM),The National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) ,The Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT), or an equivalent examination accepted by AASM.

EQUIPMENT:

Data acquisition equipment, positive airway pressure devices, cardiopulmonary monitoring devices, electrodes, sensors, pressure transducers, thermisters, end tidal CO2 monitor, video monitoring equipment, microphones, and other equipment commonly used in a sleep laboratory. Standard office equipment.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/LOCATION OF POSITION:

· Standard pulmonary sleep laboratory and general patient care units.

· Exposed to considerable patient contact.

· May be exposed to such occupational hazards as communicable diseases.

· Some moderately heavy lifting required.

· Some lifting or assisting of non-ambulatory patients required.

· May be exposed to uncooperative or disruptive patients.
