HCSS Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse
Required Education/Experience:
- RN with current license or valid permit to practice professional nursing in Texas.
- Two (2) years of inpatient hospital experience as an RN with at least two (2) years in Critical Care within the last 2 years. Does NOT need to be Level l experience for this position.
- Must have current ACLS and BLS certification obtained through American Heart Association (AHA)
Equipment:
- Able to use equipment and related supplies for a selected patient population.
- Able to use mechanical devices, such as those used in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, oxygen administration, and intravenous therapy. Including point of care testing (POCT) and quality requirements for that testing
- X-ray and radiation safety system, imaging, and hemodynamic equipment
- Able to use related computer equipment
Work Environments:
- Work in a high stress environment
- Work environment is in a comfortable indoor area.
- Conditions such as noise, odors, cramped workspace and/or fumes could sometimes cause discomfort.
- Moderate to extreme physical effort may be required, such as walking, standing, performing CPR, and lifting materials, equipment, objects, and/or patients.
- Occasional lifting may be very heavy and awkward, over 50 lbs.
- Vision, hearing, talking, and sense of touch abilities must be adequate to enable one to perform tasks quickly and accurately such as reading small print, reading from monitoring equipment, defining details, sending, and receiving clear and accurate oral communication.
- Frequent periods of concentrated or focused attention will be needed to interpret visual, auditory, and sensory inputs.
- Minimum to work and stay active is 2 weekend shifts per month.
- Alertness and careful attention to detail will be required to avoid injury.
- May be exposed to such occupational hazards as communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, ionizing & non-ionizing radiation, hazardous medications and disoriented or combative patients or others.
