Minimum Qualifications:

Associate’s degree in graphic design, visual arts, illustration, or a related field and two (2) years of related graphic design experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience relevant to the role may be considered for this position.

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

 

Job Summary:

Supports the university’s strategic priorities by employing a broad range of creative design skills to inform and engage internal and/or external audiences. This role plays a key part in advancing awareness of UTMB Health and its four mission areas—patient care, research, innovation and education—as well as driving clinical business to UTMB physicians, hospitals and other health care services. Position will collaborate with internal teams as well as university programs and department stakeholders. Position includes direct communication with target audiences, content creators and marketing strategists, as well as activities that facilitate communication by the President and other university executives, programs and departments. 

 

Job Duties: 

  • Design and create visually dynamic digital and print collateral, including logos, website graphics, social media graphics, fliers, banners, advertisements, and other marketing or event outreach materials.
  • Assist in the development of typesetting, layout and design concepts for various projects in the university’s innovation, research, clinical and education mission areas.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions to generate creative ideas and concepts.
  • Follow brand guidelines to develop consistent campaign materials across various media.
  • Prepare and present design drafts for feedback, revision and approval within the design and branding team.
  • Use a project management tool for design projects to collaborate with team members from across the organization, including the Academic Enterprise and the Health System.
  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and maintaining attention to detail.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, tools and design techniques.
  • Incorporate motion graphics and animations into designs is a plus..
  • Performs related duties as required. 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

  • Strong portfolio showcasing a variety of print and digital design projects.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.
  • Ability to take constructive feedback and articulate design choices.
  • Keeps up-to-date with design trends (graphics, marketing, and web).
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with co-workers in digital, content, media, design, and social media teams.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Experience with basic web design and familiarity with HTML/CSS a plus.

 

Salary Range: 

Actual salary commensurate with experience.

 

Work Schedule: 

Partial Remote, Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm, and as needed on occasion.
