Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent, and four years of experience in fundraising and alumni relations.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in cultivating and soliciting gifts from individual alumni. Experience as a key staff person in an alumni reunion giving program.  Work experience in an academic medicine or health care environment.

Job Summary:

Develop and implement programs that strengthen the relationship between alumni, parents, and UTMB.

Scope:   Institution-wide

Job Duties:

  • Develop and manage a class reunion gift program for the School of Medicine. This will include working on the existing plan, exploring best practices, and modifying the plan as appropriate. The reunion-giving program should be coordinated with Homecoming activities.
  • Develop and manage a UTMB Parents Council that is inclusive of all four schools and will enhance the educational experiences of the students at UTMB.  The purpose of the Council is to improve the communication between parents and family members of all UTMB students to the UTMB community as well as support student-based programs.  
  • Work with the Alumni Associations of all four schools to identify and develop programs that strengthen UTMB’s relationship with its alumni, parents, and residents.
  • Oversee the development of a broad fund-raising program designed to secure lead annual gifts from individuals and alumni.
  • Provide management support to the Alumni Board of Trustees.  Assist the President and President-Elect in leading the Alumni Board of Trustees by preparing communication pieces and agendas for board meetings and executive committee meetings.
  • Assist in the establishment of goals and budgets associated with this position. 
  • Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Decision-Making Responsibilities:

The Director for Alumni and Parent Relations is responsible for planning, implementing, and measuring the effectiveness of alumni events such as the annual Homecoming event, Proud Parents Weekend, Scholarship Luncheons, and other various annual alumni events.  This position manages the School of Medicine Alumni Board of Trustees activity, supervises and provides leadership to the UTMB Parents Program, and plans and develops strategies for generating revenues and resources through the Reunion Giving Program.

Salary Range:

Actual salary commensurate with experience.
