Director, Media Relations
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and five years of journalism (print and/or broadcast), media relations or public relations experience. Two years supervisory/management experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Already established relationships with local, state and national media
- Master’s degree in a communications field and eight years of journalism (print and/or broadcast), media relations or public relations experience
- Experience in academic medicine, health care and/or higher education preferred
- Experience in internal/organizational communications an advantage
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Proven skills in news writing and editing, media placements, and project planning and execution
- Proven ability to produce timely results within a high-volume, fast-paced environment
- A clear “customer service” orientation
- Experience in preparing and managing an annual budget
- Familiarity with new/social media functions and opportunities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
