Clinical Simulation Specialist, Health Education Center
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in health-related field plus two years’ relevant experience in academic, healthcare or simulation learning environment OR Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a related field plus four years’ clinical experience. Current license or valid permit to practice professional nursing in Texas.
Specific Job Related Duties:
- Uses clinical knowledge and experience to assist with design, set-up and leading of human and non-human simulation activities.
- Leads and trains in role playing applications, props placement and moulage set-up before and after simulations in addition to recording of information and debriefing of simulation sessions as needed.
- Promote simulation-based education by providing technical assistance, support and training to faculty, instructors and staff in the use of simulation equipment.
- Conducts tours and simulation sessions for internal/external groups and/or individuals.
- Conducts thorough research and liaises with company representatives in order to provide recommendations for operational efficiency, new equipment and supplies and materials related to simulation.
- Responsible for routine cleaning and maintenance of simulation equipment and trains others in this capacity as it relates to human and non-human activities.
- Responsible for oversight of inventory of equipment and supplies and trains others in this capacity.
- Responsible for organizing all storage spaces to meet the needs of center activities, maintains database of supply usage and collaborates with business operations to address ordering needs of the center.
- Maintain currency with simulation technology and education and leads training sessions for staff, faculty and others along with maintenance of training logs.
- Maintains simulation equipment, catalogs and operation manuals.
- Operates audiovisual systems and possesses the ability to train others in the use of audiovisual systems.
- Complies with all governmental and University policies, rules and regulations.
- Attends seminars, conferences, in-service trainings and staff meetings, as required.
- Contributes to accreditation report requirements in collaboration with all components of the office of the VP of IE, IPE, and the HEC.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
- Performs related duties as required.
Salary:
$60,800 - $91,200 Salary commensurate with experience
Preferred License/Certificate:
Current license or valid permit to practice professional nursing in Texas.
Certified Simulation Educator or Operations Specialist (CHSE, CHSE-A, CHSOS).
Preferred Skill/Competency:
- Operational knowledge of audio/visual equipment.
- Simulation technologies and applications.
- Advanced in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
- Proficient in inventory management and record keeping procedures.
- Proven ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three (3) years’ practice or simulation experience in an academic/hospital setting.
- One (1) to two (2) years’ experience using B Line or similar Medical Simulation software.
- Certified Simulation Educator or Operations Specialist (CHSE, CHSE-A, CHSOS).
