Clinical Respiratory Care Student - Respiratory Care Services (Galveston)
Minimum Qualifications:
Enrolled in an accredited academic Respiratory Care program and have completed minimal one semester clinical practicum, apply discipline specific knowledge and skills, ability to understand written instructions and perform basic mathematical calculations; demonstrates skills for assigned specialty area/function or assigned procedures.
Certifications Required:
BLS Certification required
Specific Job Related Duties
Under supervision of Respiratory Therapist, the Respiratory Student will be able to:
- Assess the respiratory care needs of patients.
- Identify potential and actual diagnosis/patient care needs and identifies the contraindications and possible complications of patients receiving respiratory care.
- Initiate, evaluate, and review respiratory care plans that reflect a multidisciplinary approach to appropriate preventive action.
- Set up and maintain respiratory equipment.
- Maintain oxygen, humidity, and aerosol therapy equipment inventory and supplies.
- Perform blood gas analysis and respiratory function tests.
- Participate in patient rounds.
- Maintain patient records.
- Provide patient/family respiratory care instruction.
- Adhere to internal controls and reporting structure.
Marginal or Periodic Functions:
- Performs related duties as required by supervising Respiratory Therapist.
Salary Range
$18 hr w/ no benefits working up to 19hrs per wk
