Clinical Education Specialist (Office of Clinical Education - Galveston)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in related field and three years of related experience; or associate’s degree and five or more years of coordination experience.
JOB DESCRIPTION
To manage programs and projects in the post-clerkship phase for the Office of Clinical Education.
JOB SUMMARY
To provide coordination of all phases and activities associated with the post-clerkship phase courses for medical students. Includes coordination of specific courses, support for course specific meetings, and coordination and education of community preceptors.
JOB DUTIES:
- Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of a program directly related to management or general business operation.
- Ensures the goals and objectives of programs/initiatives specified are accomplished in accordance with prescribed priorities, deadlines, and funding conditions.
- Determines methods and procedures for program, staffing requirements, budget and resources closely working with supervisor.
- Assesses program/initiative status and implements appropriate actions.
- Provides technical advice to assist in solving problems.
- Serves as resource and subject matter expert.
- Proctor exams as needed (as a secondary/backup role, coordinators are primary)
- Provides education of community faculty and coordinators regarding elective and other program requirements and communication about deadlines.
- Develop relationships with community preceptors as needed and assists with onboarding and faculty development needs of community preceptors when indicated.
- Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
- Performs related duties as required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Basic proficiency and recent work experience in database applications and software systems. Working knowledge of MS Access (data entry, create reports, create queries).
- Knowledge of Excel and other UTMB systems such as Tivoli, My Star, New Innovations, Perspective.
- Superior communication skills, multitasking skills, organization, and attention to detail. Ability to speak clearly and concisely when relaying the needs of UTMB to potential preceptors.
- Interpersonal communication skills sufficient to work with a broad range of professionals in legal, healthcare and education arenas.
- Website maintenance and design a plus, but not required.
- Must have valid driver’s license and a dependable vehicle for traveling to preceptor offices throughout Texas.
- Experience as a coordinator in an educational setting.
- Experience communicating effectively and efficiently in a deadline driven professional setting.
SALARY RANGE:
Commensurate with experience
