Associate Professor/Professor, TT -Global Health & Emerging Diseases, SPPH
We seek outstanding global health educators, investigators, and practitioners for tenure track positions to form the inaugural cohort of faculty in the Department of Global Health and Emerging Diseases in the new School of Public and Population Health
SPECIFIC JOB-RELATED DUTIES:
Faculty members will:
- Participate in creating collaborative global health programs that encompass research, education, and policy/practice activities.
- Develop and execute strategic research and education/training plans that align with the Department’s vision, mission, and values.
- Collaborate with UTMB and global partner institutions to obtain external funding for research and training programs.
- Participate in current UTMB research grants and contracts and seek funding for new multidisciplinary projects.
- Conduct and publish research in a collaborative manner that strengthens capacity within global health partnerships.
- Participate in the establishment of Departmental training opportunities, including workshops, courses, certificates, masters, and doctoral degrees.
- Advise and mentor junior faculty and trainees engaging in global health work.
- Develop global health educational content that aligns with consensus global health education competencies.
- Serve on thesis and dissertation committees.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- PhD, MD/DO, DrPH, DVM or equivalent with postdoctoral/postgraduate training
- Significant experience leading global health educational programs or in an independent scientific role carrying out collaborative global health research.
- Working knowledge of consensus principles regarding equity in global health partnerships
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- MPH, MS, or equivalent graduate degree with experience in research or educational methodologies
- Experience living and working in resource-limited settings.
- Strong record of extramural funding and evidence of ability to work alongside international partners to develop collaborative research programs.
- Strong mentorship record
SALARY:
Commensurate with experience.
PHYSICAL LOCATION OF POSITION:
UTMB Galveston campus.
