Associate Professor- N-T Track Clinical, Internal Medicine-Nephrology
The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) is looking for an experienced clinician educator to join our expanding program. This role will involve significant educational responsibilities.
Our Division of Nephrology & Hypertension boasts a comprehensive General Nephrology practice, a Transplant practice, and an Interventional Nephrology program led by the renowned 'Father of Interventional Medicine,' offering a well-rounded curriculum for Nephrology fellows. Additionally, our division is expanding its research program, focusing on clinical trials, translational research, and bench science in kidney care.
We are seeking a dedicated Clinician Educator with a passion for teaching to actively participate in our division's educational activities. Join our dynamic team as we launch new clinical and research initiatives and work together to transform kidney patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Educational Leadership: Develop and implement innovative educational programs and curricula in nephrology.
- Teaching: Provide high-quality instruction to medical students, residents, and fellows through lectures, seminars, and hands-on clinical training.
- Mentorship: Guide and support trainees in their professional development and research activities.
- Clinical Duties: Deliver exceptional patient care in nephrology, including outpatient and inpatient services.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other faculty members to enhance the department's educational and clinical missions.
- Professional Development: Stay current with advancements in nephrology and medical education through continuous learning and professional development.
Schedule:
· Provide patient care in a clinic setting for General Nephrology patients (practice locations will include Galveston UHC, League City VLTC, and assigned Dialysis locations). This position will be responsible for holding 3 ½-day weekly clinic sessions.
· Participates in the consult service and after hours-call service with the other Nephrology Faculty at Galveston Campus and League City Campus.
· Participate in weekend rotation for inpatient consults.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- MD or DO degree
- Board certification/Board eligibility in Internal Medicine and Nephrology
- Eligibility for Texas medical licensure
- Completion of an ACGME Accredited Internal Medicine Residency program
- Proven track record in medical education and curriculum development.
- Strong clinical skills and experience in nephrology.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and teach medical students, residents, and fellows.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to advancing clinical research in nephrology.
