Animal Technician, Animal Resource Center - Service Department
Minimum Qualifications:
High school or equivalent and one year of laboratory animal experience.
Job Summary:
To provide for the skilled care of laboratory animals in a humane, safe and sanitary manner using appropriate equipment and established procedures.
Job Duties:
- Feeds and waters animals as specified.
- Performs daily census of animals.
- Changes animal caging as scheduled sanitizes rooms, equipment and hallways as assigned.
- Assists in the maintenance of animal records.
- Observes animals for behavior change and/or evidence of disease and notifies staff as appropriate.
- Provides routine treatment for common disease problems and performs animal identification tasks using established methods.
- Assists in the operation of and the record keeping for breeding colonies.
- Attends in-house training programs to become more knowledgeable in the field of laboratory animal science.
Marginal or Periodic Functions:
- Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
- Performs related duties as required
Working Environment/Equipment
Support equipment used in a laboratory animal science multi-species facility and standard office equipment. Standard animal resources environment. Must not be allergic to animal dander or have immunodeficiency diseases. Pregnancy may become a personal safety factor in some laboratory animal science duties. Potential exposure to radiation and biohazards.

Salary Range:
Commensurate with experience.
