Min Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in related field and completion of coursework for Master’s degree in related field.

Job Summary:  During the 12-month fellowship which begins in June of 2023, the Administrative Fellow will complete rotations of major hospital departments, participate in individual and group projects, provide support to Hospital/Clinic Administration, and complete all written assignments required by their graduate program.

Candidates must have completed a Bachelor's Degree in a related field and completed the didactic portion of their coursework for a Master's Degree.

Specific Job Related Duties

  • Participates in capital and operational budget hearings, interacting and obtaining the perspective of the executive staff, department heads, and the Healthcare Financial Management office.
  • Attends various committee meetings (to include quarterly medical staff meetings, quality assurance meetings, and other committee meetings in which the Fellow may have specific interest).
  • Becomes familiar with hospital inpatient departments and basic outpatient satellite clinic activities.
  • Participates in Joint Commission preparation activities, including the discussion of the findings from the last survey, Joint Commission requirements, and pre-survey preparations with Hospitals and Clinics Executive Leadership and department manager, as needed.
  • When appropriate, may assume administrative responsibility for a hospital department(s).
  • Participates in and/or assists leadership in variety of activities (e.g. CPI teams, business plan preparation, Environmental Rounds, clinical benchmarking, and data management)
  • After 6 months, may be asked to participate in the Executive On-Call Schedule with an Executive Leader as backup.
  • Meets requirements in order to complete a Master’s degree in a related field
  • Performs related duties as required
  • Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.

MARGINAL OR PERIODIC FUNCTIONS:

  • May attend Houston area conferences (e.g. Greater Houston Hospital Council, ACHE functions) as well, as state or national conferences
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
